Can an S-9 be modded to put out more than 40+ PEP? I see the S-680 model has the ERF-2030s (same as S-9), but getting more out of them (claiming 80 watts). Same for the S-3NX. Is there a way to mod the S-9 to get more output? |

you have an original S9 with transistors i assume? you can change to mosfets but i don't think it's worth the effort. 45 mol from the original vs 80 for the new mosfet version is 1/2 S-unit at best. not worth the time or effort. sell the original & buy a new one if you really want the extra few watts. or, wait til who-knows-when for a 175 watter....my original early S9 @ around 45 watts gets out just fine. |

Thanks Pat, My S-9 does nice stock, usually I dial it back and run a Palomar when I need a kick. Just wondered if there was a way to swap or mod the 2030s and get more gusto w/out using a box. But, now that you mention it, that 175 does look pretty nice... |
