My friend has a 95t witch squeals like a stuck pig in mobile and bass operation with a d104 and stock mic. Is this a normal thing with these radios or is it just a bad one. I dont know were it came from and havent even looked in it just figured with galaxy being a love it or hate it thing we would get some unbias feed back the golden screw driver on the golden build radio

Is it talkback squeal? Does it squeal like a piggy with the talkback off? The radio having a built in amp makes it that much more important that proper installation is done carefully. Without looking with my own eyes at how the radio has been installed it is hard to tell what I think but I can give you some ideas. Shorten your power cables up, especially the negative cable. Cut them down to the shortest length possible just allowing what you need. You can always add more cable in the future. Also shorten the external speaker wire if you have one and keep it away from the coax and mic cord. In the mobile I run my amp negative cable to the vehicle chassis and the positive direct to the battery with the shortest possible cables. Some people prefer to run both the POS and NEG to the battery and sometimes it works but in many instances if the NEG cable is to long much problems can appear. What happens is, the longer the NEG cable gets to 9 feet it wants to act like antenna. So you can just imagine all the issues that can be going on. This just might be one of the most over looked mobile amp installation problems we have and why many have had such bad luck at a succesful install. Goes for base amps to. Also make sure the base setup is well grounded electrically and the power supply has its own personal wall outlet. Good luck with it and hope I am able to help.73 P.S. Oh wait a minute! Did you say it was a Galaxy???? Step 1- Buy 10lb sledge hammer Step 2- Hold hammer above radio Step 3-...............just kidding! I like these new Galaxys myself and just talked to a guy the other day on SIDEBAND using a 95T and I was impressed. It sounded topshelf. SO don't worry, a radio is a radio and they all work and install pretty much the same. Totally unbiased. KEEP IT REAL! Kenny cef491(27.115lsb) 2sf491(27.555usb) Indiana

That is not normal for sure. Great radios and I agree the new Galaxys do a much better job on SSB than the old ones. They dont float like a boat. They do get hot if ran on the upper edge but I run mine on the base with a small cage fan. Mine does beteen 10 and 30 watts DK 120 pep. |
