What kind of six digit frequency counter is available that can be plugged into the RCA jack on the DX2517? Is there a way to wire an RCA plug onto the Galaxy FC347 frequency counter and use it with the DX2517? |

I believe the: Copper Part# G10-00024 FC347 Plug in Freq. Counter should work for you. This accessory freq. counter was designed to work w/ DX33HML, DX44V, DX77HML radios, no soldering is required...the FC347 plugs directly into a socket on the back of the radio next to the antenna connector 2 year limited parts and labor warranty Hope this help's, Lon~Tech808 CEF#0808/HAM#001/CVC#0002 Tech808@copperelectronics.com

I thought the same. I got an FC347 from Coppers, but it has a six pin plug on it and appears to require hard-wiring into the radio. The 2517 has a plug on the back that says it is for a frequency counter, but it looks like a plug such as a VCR cord would plug into. I do not know what kind of frequency counter it requires. Thankyou for the response. |

If you or anyone else who finds a 6-digit (or more) frequency counter for the Galaxy DX 2517 that's a compatible plug-in, please post----I'd appreciate it as well. I bought one of these radio's about a month ago and didn't like the 5-digit counter either. It'd be nice to see if/how bad it may be drifting. The jack is similar to an RCA jack, on the rear of the console |

The FC347 can be used with the DX2517, but it needs to be "hard wired" to the PCB using the wiring harness that comes with it. If you do a search you can find instructions showing the proper placement of the wiring. Just make sure you are looking at the correct EPTxxxx board. The RCA freq counter plug on the back of the radio is used when the radio is on the bench being serviced, and is operational in the TX mode. |

An afterthought...if you don't want to hard wire the FC347 check into a freq counter that goes inline with the coax cable. There is a unit on the market that works in both TX and RX mode... |
