In the article "How to choose a groundplane." Is it my understanding that on a 20 foot mast a A99 would out perform a Top One Astroplane? Also whats the height limit on a mast before it would need guying?

852, the story about Avanti and the AP antenna was that it was effective when the tip of it was at the max height allowed by the FCC rule 95.

So this antenna fulfills its claims only when the tip heights are equal in height among AT that are compared. The max tip height in 11 meter is 60' above the ground. There is another rule related to a 20' height, but it too is limited by the max 60' limit to tip height.

Just get it up as high as you can handle and have a good time. It should perform great except maybe if you are located in a low spot in hilly country.
