When I switch the 949 from am to ssb or ssb to am the receiver takes a few seconds to fade back in. I suspect the AGC of the receiver needs to be adjusted.

What is the component for this adjustment ?

There is a procedure called trapping the AGC,not sure how its done but I have seen reference to it on another forum,it is a very tricky procedure and if not careful you can blow out the front end or receiver section of your radio.I would suggest that you contact tech support for your radio and they may be able to help you.
