Hi, I have heard GREAT things about the KENWOOD TS-440 SAT. I was wondering if there is a mod for 11 meters? If so - how difficult would it be? I can't find ANYTHING on the web. Mike |

Don't take this as gospel....i'd ask more question's before doing this. Also it is for the 440s, don't know if they are the same. 10 Hz display cut D66 Wideband TX cut D80 CEFFFCEF Bob CEF703/CVC26 269 Hunter Valley NOT allowed to hold a passport....

Diode options: There are a bunch of configuration options controlled by clipping or inserting diodes on the back of the control board. You get to it by taking the top and bottom covers off (a bunch of silver screws), loosening the front panel (4 flat-head silver screws, NOT the black ones). Then you have: diode controls in out (cut) ----- -------- ---------- ---------- D65 mode confirmation Morse single beep D66 display resolution 100 Hz 10 Hz D67 memory protect none on D73 CW shift 800 Hz 400 Hz D78 WARC 24MHx band tx disabled enabled D79 WARC 18MHz band tx disabled enabled D80 General Coverage tx disabled enabled In short, cutting diode D80 will allow the TS-440S to transmit anywhere it can receive. To stay legal, keep the power under 5 watts. |

You can keep the power under 5 watts but its still not legal as the 440 is not legal for 11 meters at any power levels, but if you don't go over board with higher power it should be good,as a matter of fact its better to use that radio on 11 than a high powered cb because it should have better filtering and may cause less splatter due to its superior design.
