how do you go about making an affective horizontal antenna for 10 and 11 meters? |

Do a search for Delta loops, good easy antenna to make and they have gain over a dipole and quieter than a dipole because of the closed loop design. Bob CEF451/VE1CZ Robert L. Spicer The days of radio are just beginning!

To make a broadband dipole (one cut for just 11m wont cover 10m and vice versa) cut one dipole for mid 10m band and a second one for mid 11m. Mount the 11m horizontal and hang the 10m one underneaht so that is slopes at around 30degrees at each end. Fed with one coax this will give an antenna that will cover form low 11m to high 10m bands. If your talking ham 10 meters a horizontal antenna isn't going to do you much good as the majority of that communication goes on verticle. |

Actually when the next solar cycle starts you will see most of the DX stations will be using horizontal antennas but where skip is concerned vert. or horz. will work equally fine due to polarity shift as the signals work there way around the globe they constantly shift from vert to horz.Put up a Delta loop and you will have lots of fun DX or otherwise. It may have started but it will take a while till we start to see the effects. All we can rely on for the time being is sporadic E skip mixed with a bit of tropospheric ducting, maybe later this year things will start to pick up somewhat. bob CEF451/VE1CZ Robert L.
