i have my cobra 2000gtl set to a 4watt dead key and i use a jo gunn antenna, the swr is 1.2 it rises as i talk.then when my rci2990 is hooked up to it 20 watt dead key and swr is over 2.i also can raise the power on my 2000 to a 8 watt dead key which also shows a higher swr.kinda lost, the antenna is new coax is lmr400. should i raise the power on the 2000 then adjust for low swr.by the way i have had a imax 2000 and a a99 and others jo gunn is far supeior then those. also seems like i get more feedback got to keep the mic gain down on the 2990

Are you seting the meter cal for full scale at max power then reading SWR ?

Every time you change power out you must reset the cal for full scale

yes, i reset it each time. when i check the swr on the radios without the dosy meter and use the radios swr meter it is lower.why would a dosy meter do that? the 2990 shows 1.1 on its swr meter with high power turned up,but the dosy shows higher swr when the power is raise.maybe that is why the guy sold it to me? so i have 2 radios reading the same thing and the dosy swr gets higher with the power turned up.squeals with the dosy meter hooked up and does not when out of line.sounds like a ground problem.but i know nothing about meters.

Try this use a dummy load and see if the swr changes into it.
