Hi all, I have a Texas Star modulator plus and it works great but the preamp doesnt work the receive dies when i push it on. ive talked to other guys and they say its a common problem with texas star's and it is fairly easy to fix. but no one will toss me a line on how to do it. ive heard that its just a transistor that needs replace or maybe a diode, having a texas star dx250 and a dx400. this would be great knowlege for me to have on hand , im guessing that its the same for all texas stars. any info on this problem is greetly appreaciated.

Preamp problems in LINEAR amps is common. Replace the transistor. I know from the VHF/UHF ham ones the poor transistors unless you hard wire the LINEAR AMP to the radio switching are being exposing it to a blast of RF when you key up .... and thats not good ....
