I am having trouble finding a chimney mount system or even a tripod roof mount for an Imax 2000 antenna. I tried the local Radio Shack this morning; I have one of their Chimney Mts up from 12 years ago (scanner antenna)and it's held up fine; problem is the one they currently have seems extremely light duty; nothing like the old one. I've tried my local Home Depot, Lowes, and 1 local "Just Do-It" Center with no kind of luck. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thanks in advance |

Try clamping it to a metal vent pipe. That's how my three verticals are put up at home.. Check satelitte installers - they often have tripods.. Simon Tech237 N7AUS

my maco v5/8 with a bit more windload then the i2k is temporarily chimney mounted using 2 of radio shacks 'extremely light duty' chimney mount kits-just in case. it has withstood 65 mph winds on a couple occasions. my 6/2/432 stacked loops are on a 3' tripod i got from radio shack. several of my local stores still have the mount & tripods IN STOCK. several local home depots also have both in stock. go to any of the BIG ham radio distributors, most have rohn tripods & i've seen chimney mounts listed as well. |

most Radio Shacks have chimney mounts. Also try Ace hardware.I have a A99 on a 25' mast on a very cheap looking chimney mount.its been there for some time now through alot of strong winds and its still there.I put a 2x4 block on the shingle roof and let the weight of the mast sit on it to take some of the pressure off. |

you could make one of your own, try a mobile home supply store and ask for the trailor tie down straps, they work great and are very strong, have to be to hold down a mobile home in strong winds. George CEF#Ø476 KI4NBE Amateur Extra HAM#Ø181 CVC#ØØ14
