The mic gain control on my base has a spot where it makes the radio squeel. I guess it's gone bad. Using a stock mike, can I bypass the mic gain control completely so it will be all the way up? How many wires? It's a Uniden Washington. |

remove the 2 white wires from the mic gain control and connect them together.be sure to insulate them from possibly grounding against the radio chassis.the shield side of the wires can remain connected where they are.if mic still squeels change R-186(1k ohm)on main board below channel selector to 10k ohm.

Followup: Thanks for the help Tech291! I accidentally cut both white wires and the two black ones. So I soldered the two whites together and soldered the two blacks together. That took care of the problem with my mic gain being worn out. Also found that I had a bad ground on my antenna cable so I resoldered it. Lastly, I found out my ole D104 has about had it. After taking care of these three problems it's working good again. At any rate the radio has quit bleeding over on my computer speakers so it must be working right. Thanks again! |
