i have that set up, does real fine, just make sure your coax can handle twice the power out of the amp!! its a good precaution to take!! dk the amp at about 275 to 300 and let it swing, you can dk lower but i wood'nt recomend any higher unless you get the amp worked on for a high dk?? most dont do this for a home install, as its mainly use in key down situations!! enjoy as this is a pretty good set up.. it is at my location and using my electronics.. thehobo 269150 am monitor ch. |

an xt40012 is a 2x4 base amp with built in driver and requires only between 2-4 watts carrier & no more then 20 PEP to reach full output of around 300/1200. remember it is internally powered by a non-regulated PS that starts near 18 volts or more dropping to 15-16 when keyed. a 40012 is the same amp without the built in driver & requires up to 10 watts carrier to see the same 300 dead key as the xt model. to reach 1200 or so PEP can require PEP input somewhere between 40-80 watts....just depends on internal tolerances. start low & work up to 300/1200, competition, custom or whatever, it'll still blow up. xforce says to use their x80 base to drive it-they just don't tell you NOT TO CRANK IT! 80 carrier/300PEP input & the 40012 will be beyond toast can't help you with the palomar....don't know what it does. |

well as it turned out the xt40012 and the 40012 were not enough. for use with existing equipment and the watts to dollars ratio the 60012hd works fine. for the price of a simple email to xforce you can have all your inquiries answered. i have had mine since early november and i like it fine. ......aj you dont need an amplifier, you need a BIGGER ANTENNA
