Iam looking for a basestation style radio that could be set up by copper to dead key 5 watts and swing to 25 watts pep and no more on AM.The same on SSB 25-30 watts PEP.only!(any more will over drive my amp)
All of the 10 meter base stations I have seen on copper are good but most might be over kill and I dont want to over drive my amp.thanks for any sugg!

the only thing that fits the bill is an rci2980. it is a dual final 10 meter base radio. it has a variable rf power control, it'll max out around 10-12 watts & adjust down as low as 2 or so. PEP will probably be near 30 watts, but backing down the mic gain will get you back to 25, or as low as 0 PEP.

I would guess a Stock galaxy 2517 nice radio with all the features you could ask for mine does about 50 watts but im sure a stock one would probably be about right for what u want it for to drive a small amp , i have mine set up where my rf power knob only runs my dead key i can swing 50 from 1 watt to up to 20 watts .

My 3 suggestions would be:

#1 ~ MAGNUM S-3200B
(My all purpose base radio)

#2 ~ Texas Ranger 696F
(808xyl's all purpose base radio.)

#3 ~ Galaxy DX 2547 )
Note (Never personally used a Galaxy DX 2547 yet.)

I just looked and sure enough the S3200, and the 696 aren't listed anymore. Does Copper still carry them? Please tell me it's a glitch and they got removed by accident.

that little Magnum S3200B is one underated radio. has all the right functions and great audio on am & ssb. i bought one for a cheapy solid state radio so not to use my tube stuff all the time and have been quite pleased. a great reliable straight forward talker for under $300.00.
