The meter on my connex mobile setup which I just hooked up in a new truck is very jumpy it will shoot uo to the middle of the meter like it is recieving even though it is not. Also it will slowly move up higer and higher and then fall back down. It does this continually. I had swr's of 1.5 but the coax was over a year old so I replaced the coax and I now have 1.1 swr's but the radio meter still does the same thing. If I hook the radio up in my car parked right next to my truck it does not do this the meter needle just sits where it is supposed to until I transmit or recieve. I am using a wilson silverload antenna it is about 5yrs old. I don't know if I should just buy a new antenna or if it is the mounting hardware? I hate to have to keep spending money to replace everything until it is fixed. has anyone else ever experienced this problem? any input would really help out b4 I go buy a new 60 dollar wilson antenna. Thanks -Road- |

Road, You might have a bad ground, it sounds like static build up when it's doing that try this. Unhook your coax from the back of the radio and ground out the center conductor to the radio case or ground then hook it backup. Sometimes when you do this you will hear a pop from static build up. |
