I have been looking at this radio for over a week and seem to missing something. Does not matter if power is turned on or not and it will blow this fuse when it is hooked up to supply. I have checked through the board and transformer with no reason as to why this is happening. What am I missing? Kosmic CEF801 KI4TRX

check the power wire going into the radio. Had that going on with my 29, and found that my step-son had been messing around and had the plug turned in the back. CEF # 949 CEF Ham # 272 Amateur Call: K1STX

Even going off the factory connector there is a dead short somewhere. Checked the capacitor and transformer and not seeing where it could be shorted. Quess there will be another parts radio here soon. Kosmic CEF801 KI4TRX

Think I found the problem, now I need to find a Circuit Diagram if anyone has one. I found a blown resistor located between D9 and W101. Kosmic CEF801 KI4TRX

i had this problem to when a cobra gets the pos and neg reversed it blows a diode right by where the plug goes in the radio this makes a direct short and blows the fuse every time so it doesnt ruin the radio , you can check this diode with a ohm meter it should only show continutity one direction and not the other i bet this is whats wrong with yours ive reached around to plug them in thinking the plug will only go one waybut those studs stick out just enough to touch if you put the plug to it backward , its a easy fix , i had a old parts radio to change mine with but im sure rat shack would cary this diode hope this helps Derek |

Some radios have 12vdc on the finals even if the radio is turned off. Check the final transistors.
