D67 would usually denote a diode, could you mean R67 which would mean a resistor

Ballwrecker,

Removing D78 will give you a LOW level talkback, and personally not worth the trouble.

Older radios it is a small resistor, newer is SMT.

I have the information listed in:

Ask The Tech
» Radio's Base
» 2995DX ECHO & TALK BACK

Or do a SEARCH here in the Copper Forum for: D67 and start reading.

It is NOT easy to find!

Well, if thats not the good way to add talkback by clipping/removing D67 then what would be a better way to add talkback? I kinda need it cause im adding an LT-2 echo board to the radio. Also, any hints of where D67 is located on the board front, back, left, right ??? I also looked thur the search area before posting and tried yahoo and google. Thanks for all your help ! jay

Don't know where you got your info from but I have just looked a schematic for the 2970dx , DO NOT REMOVE D67 !!! it is a varactor diode vital to the VCO circuitry and without it the radio will be dead on TX\RX double check to see if it was R67 you are supposed to remove .

OOPS my mistake sorry, Jim is correct.

From the 2003 Ranger Tech Tips it is D78.

January Tech Tip of the Month: Want to add talk back to the RCI-2985DX & 2995DX? Man, is this one easy! Just remove D67 from the circuit. You can even wire in a SPST switch so that you can turn it on & off when desired......... so which is it D78 or D67( as per the ranger site) ???? Is there any other or better ways to add talkback to this radio. ?? I just tried putting the LT-2 board in the radio, and its sqealing bad. So i think i might have cut the wrong wires to the mic.. I thought it was the white one... oh well, ill figure that out... Oh BTW. i didnt realize that the 2995 base was the same as the 2970 mobile, excuse my ignorance but il learn as I go.
