I am in the need of a 10 meter radio that is the exact same size as a cobra 29 ltd classic. The need for such a radio is for the place it will be giong in the van I have. The cobra fits perfict and I want a 10 meter radio so I can have more channels. It also has to be a front mount mic. My only other choice would be adding channels to my cobra 29 so I can get 27.605 on it. Does anyone have any ideas? Please advise, thank you...

Magnum 257 would give you what your looking for.
Dimensions........................... 2(H) x 6(W) x 8.5(D) in

Cobra 29 ltd classic
Dimensions........................... 2 1/4(H) x 7-1/4(W) x 8-5/8(D) in

I little smaller in size. (but not by much)
More for the punch then the cobra 29 ltd classic
and you can get one right here at your very own Copper Electronics for $186.99

I now have my technician ham license so I should be good to go on the frequency and legal with a legal radio right? Well as far as freebanding goes anyway. I am going to look into the magnum 257 though. Kinda like to get an exact fit though. The cobra is a perfict fit. I will keep looking into it though. Isnt 27.605 11 meter? Im new to all this and tell you the truth, id love to get a chart that will cover all bands available to the tech and the general class license. I am in the process of the general right now and planning on having it in december, so if anyone knows were I can find a type of a map for frequencies for these and or all class amature license holders id love it?

Moderator note
Richey, do a google search on US amateur radio bands it will take you right to the band plan chart

Just about all the standard export radios are the same size as the Cobra 29.

Just bought a magnum 257hp and love it. ARRL has band plans. I think r free for the asking. Magnums sound outstanding and r very rugged. I bought mine to replace my 2970DX. tony/n5jva/cef 259

a Yaesu FT-817 is pretty small and would easily fit and give you a lot more flexibility than just 10 meters. (QRP Rig)

a FT-857 is very close to those dimensions and has more power than the 817 along with the flexibility.

Either of which can be "Expanded" if you decided to join "MARS" pretty easily.
