I just bought a Realistic HTX-100 at an estate sale. I hooked up an antenna and connected the power to a Marine battery (fully charged) and turned it on. The display flashes on and off "280000" and does not stay on steady nor do any of the functions work like the freq knob, volume, squelch etc. Can anyone tell me what is wrong? Bob |

It might need a reset.I have a friend who had the same thing happen and he did a reset of some sort but I don't remember what he did.You could possibly try adjusting the vco a bit and see if that helps.I have lost touch with my friend but if I see him I'll ask what he did to fix his.You could also check and make sure that none of the buttons are stuck because if I remember correctly a similar thing happened to a 2510 once and all it was , was a button was stuck in the on position Bob CEF451/VE1CZ Robert L. Thanks to both of you. To my knowledge, it has not been modified. I have the original manual and there is a reset but in the book, it said it was for when the numbers would not change. I took the covers off because in the book, the reset was behind the freq knob and it looked like a wire was supposed to be sticking out in the center of a hole in the chasis behind the knob. Didn't see one so I took the covers off and looked. There is a bare jumper there and after reading it again, the book says ground the jumper to the chasis. Didn't try that but will and report back. It smelled like there was a burnt resistor but if so, it should not even come on if it was in the power supply. I'll let you know. Thanks Bob |

Well, I tried the reset and it didn't work. Don't know how it can reset anything when there is no internal battery and no power to cause it to reset. Guess I will take a look at it internally. |

Could be the VCO oscillator transistor blown or something around the VCO part of the board . Tech858/Jim MM0TXO CEF#858 HAM#230 CVC#116 Wavin' a hand at ya' fae Scotland
