Anyone tried one of the after market ground plane kits for the Wilson 1000/5000 mobile antennas? If so is there any noticable gain using one of these or is it just a gimmick? How is the SWR reading after installing the ground plane kit on these antennas? |

***<<<gimmick>>>*** probably won't noticeably affect either swr or performance. the only way to increase the performance of a shortened antenna is to....get a longer one. |

Yes I have used one and can't tell and noticable different, I use one a Wilson 1000. It never changed the swr and thats a good thing. If you just want it for looks go for it but I would save my money for something that really works and/or does better. As far as a wilson antenna goes I have found out it works best just as it come.
