I recently got a new Superstar 158EDX. Is there anything that can be done to completely disable the talkback (ie.. resistor, or diode...) to make the talkback not feedback. I can't fully open my mic gain because it squeal in the speaker. I really don't need this feature. Thanks for the help.

The TB Switch is OFF and when I transmit it squeel and I ear it in the speaker. I can't open my mic gain all the way up because it's sqeeling in the speaker. Anything can be done for this? Like disable the TB inside the radio?

when you turn off the talkback switch it is disabled.you have rf feedback .not sure what mike you are using but make sure the wires at the mic connector are not shorted to the mic plug itself.sometimes the shield can touch the metal part of the connector and cause this.unscrew the mic plug so the metal does not touch and see what happens.if you are using a power mic you may have too much gain on it.numerous problems can cause this.

turn down silver eagle mic.some radios with great audio dont really need a power mic.not all
radios are the same.turn down the d104 till its just cracked open.they NEVER should be wide open
then if squeal is still there.then slowly back off mic gain from the wide open position.
my radios are set as follows
mic gain=3oclock-wide open
d104=just cracked open[the line on the round adjustment pot is straight up and down
