High RX on all modes but AM?
AM receive is very low........where do I start
looking for fix for this?...is it common?

You can download the Factory Service Manual FREE for your radio at:

http://rangerusa.com/downloads.html

That will give you a place to start and allow you to check everything to make sure everything is set to factory specifications's.

I picked up a older Non DX recently, and compared to a newer export the RX does seem quieter, If I kick on my Pre-amp it seems normal to what I am used to.

If there is no other issues with it and a alignment dont help there is a Mod to replace the RX diodes D34,D35 to schottky devices out there. So it may have been a common request. Good luck, I believe I read that they were common to have overload on RX also from someone close running high power.

REPLACE 2sc1674 with 2sc2229 receiver RF stage works wonders ....
