hi, amusing short story, i think my antenna is jealous... ive been using a 3 element maco with a rotor since 2000, works good, blew away the antron i was using ect, i was all satisfied. 3 weeks ago, i got the itch for a little more authority on the airwaves(if you know what i mean) so i popped out the $$ for a maco 6 element.then i realised how much a 30ft.tall 10 sqft windload tower and rotor costs, so im not able to use it until i gt a tower, but assembled it on the ground and left it there in view of the 3 element antenna. all of sudden the 3element is kicking some butt! its like it knows its seeing its last airwaves, and is stepping it up and doing its best not to be stashed behing the barn with weeds growing thru it. ive never talked so far with so little power before. there i am,just my radio on, the frequency band is jammin, im doing a lil audio check thinking no one can hear me, and im gettin so many callbacks i cant make em all out ! i turned down the rf power, i was still goin strong. if it was just one day, id chalk it up to conditions, but its been 3 days. is my lil antenna fighting back ? is it trying to tell me the tower isnt worth it? : ) john |

John,Sporadic E conditions in New England have been really good lately. I think mother nature has been your friend. Come on now!! Macos don't have feelings! KEEP IT REAL! Kenny cef491(27.115lsb) 2sf491(27.555usb) Indiana

I think your antenna is jealous. My IMax 2K is so upset with me because I have a four element maco down on the ground going up where the IMax is. My IMax went so far as to have a lightning burst take it out along with my cable, and router. Now I can't talk on my base till I lay the tower down and put the beam up. So watch out John in case your 3 element gets really angry. WILDRAT Mark 27.285MHZ CEF674 CVC029

You certainly are. It's OK though I needed an excuse to put that beam up anyway, plus I am in the process of moving my radio equipment to a new area of the house. I am actually being evicted by my wife and kicked out to the garage. Oh Well good luck with your antenna. WILDRAT Mark 27.285MHZ CEF674 CVC029

here is an idea... stack the 3 over top the 6 and co-phase them (2 antennas going to one radio) and how your talking. STARFACE CEF#476 KI4NBE HAM#181 CVC#Ø14
