Can I buy an ac adaptor to power the JCD-201M DESK TOP COMPRESSOR MICROPHONE? is there a jack somewhere on the mic to connect an ac adaptor? I find that the the three AAA battries for powering the mic do not last very long. Regards |

Corn, I'm not sure on the JCD as i have never seen one in the flesh but years ago we used to hook Leson's, Sadelta's etc to power supplies. If i remember rightly the power supply had to to be regulated type. Was fairly easy as the mics used a 9v battery and you could buy the adapters from Dick Smith or Tandy(Radio Shack). I'd say you would have to know the voltage that the 3 aaa's put out and go from there. Actually that reminds me....i had a power supply hooked up to a slot car set when i was a kid and that used 4x"D" cells in the controllers. So it can be done. From memory with the 9v mics, if you used an unregulated power supply it put a hum thru on Tx. Hope this helps a bit. Regards, CEFFFCEF Bob CEF703/CVC26 269 Hunter Valley 27.355 lsb.

Cornbrown, You could possibly get a 3.6-volt adapter and hard wire it to the battery compartment. Although I have not tried it yet it should work. I have one around here somewhere that I will try and hook up later on today to see if it works. Lon ~ Tech808 ~ N9CEF CEF#808 ~ CEF HAM#33 ~ CVC#002 Tech808@copperelectronics.com

Cornbrown If you do decide to use an adapter be sure and measure the output voltage as many of these adapters are made very cheaply and often exceed the the output voltage that is stamped on them, I would hate to see you fry a great mic by using one . I used to use the Duracell Ultra Digital batterys designed for cameras. They do really well but cost a lot. Now I have the Duracell rechargeables. They last a long time and best of all, no more buying exspensive batterys! Just pop them in the charger for 15 minutes and your ready to talk some more! Lon, let me know if it works.... I was also worried about getting that AC hum too. I will look into getting rechargable AAA batts. if the ac adaptor does not work out. Thanks |

Selectable for 2 sets of transceivers at once by slide switch. One plug wired for radio and the other plug wired for a pc to use in Copper Voice Chat. Could this be done? STARFACE CEF#476 KI4NBE HAM#181 CVC#Ø14

Sonny You could always try this , if you got spare pins on the ptt switch you could split the positive from the batteries and connect to the pins on ptt switch so that the mic amp only draws power when mic is keyed . JIM Road Warrior134 CEF#858 HAM#230 CVC#116

Jim, The JCD-201m is electronic switched so it would have to be powered "on" in order to operate. Read Tech833's review on this mic and you will see that he has made use of the ability of this mic to be powered directly from the radio. That is the way I power mine on the Kenwood.Granted not all radios have a power pin on the mic jack but it would be worthwhile to check this feature out. tech291 cef291/cvc6 kc8zpj |
