Since lightning blew away my A99 I am looking for another antenna. The Sirio S-2016 from Copper looks interesting. The ground radials seems strange. I was tossing up the idea of this one or maybe the I10k. A huge price difference. Wonder how much in performance? Whats your opinion? I am trying to stay away from fiberglass. i |

check into the maco or workman 5/8ths wave omni. Everybody on the the forum that owns and uses this antenna reports very good results. the 5/8ths will out perform your a-99. just my 2 cents.... steve |

I have the Sirio 2012 ( Same as 2016 but less radials and smaller coil ) and have had no probs with it , had 70mph winds the other day and it is still standing . Performance is good on it I get about 30 miles with 4w on FM ( We are forbidden to use AM in UK but we do HE HE !!! )with very good reports but if you buy the 2016 I would recommend you buy the radial support ring as the do break . Thanks for the post. I can't seem to find a place in the USA where to purchase the support ring. By the way Road_warrior, how tall is your Sirio 2012? Dan |

The Sirio 827 is the better antenna, but, you need to dump the self tapper screws. The reason is, with wind vibration they work loose and eventually enlarge the hole and fall out. From new I tap and thread the holes and fit a machine thread with a locking washer, over time it has proven to be totally reliable. In addition, I filled the aluminium tubes with expanding foam, this gave additional strength to withstand wind, and coax seal around the joints prevented corrosion. Great antenna, can be used down to 20 metres without an atu, on mine I have a modified SGC QMS-37 fitted at the base and have 160m through 6m coverage. Works for me! |
