Would it be possible to coat the outside of a fiberglass antenna with metal? If so would it work better than just the wire up the middle? I already have a metal top section on my a99 with a metal gpk. The bottom two fiberglass sections are sturdy, very little give. Dan |

You can't coat the outside with metal, but you could replace the fiberglass shell with wire inside, using metal tubing. |

I don't think you are going to improve the performance of that antenna without replacing it with an Imax 2K or other similar 5/8 or .64 wavelength antenna. When all is said and done it will still be a half wavelength.Don't bother with the Firestik upgrade , I tried that and that didn't work either. Pirate |

I agree, be alot easier to upgrade to a more efficient antenna. |
