Awhile back I fried the Para Dynamics (PDC-1089) TVI filter. So I bought another one thinking because someone said they were good. I guess they meant good for nothing! Well the new one I put behind just the radio, after a few hours of operation I started noticing the SWR acting peculiar, so I removed it from the system. After reading the other post about the Bencher and the Workman I went to Google and started reading the reviews on the Bencher, everything was positive in the reviews. I went ahead and ordered one yesterday, got it today. There is a big difference in workmanship and material quality between the Bencher and Para Dynamics. New Guys/Old guys don't waste your money on the Para Dynamics and Workman TVI filters. For what I spent on the two Para Dynamic filters I could have bought the Bencher. Also don't believe everything people tell you, do a little research, you will save time on the learning curve, your equipment, and also your hard earned money. If you want a TVI filter go ahead and get a good one whether it be the Bencher or one of the other quality filters out there. Also don't believe me either, check it out for yourselves! |

i agree. i have both the mfj & vectronics version-which i THOUGHT were half-way decent, but my ICE & B&W filters out-filter 'em by a noticeable margin |

Wildrat is right on the money! Never take anyones word for it! Not even yor best cb friend! RESEARCH! Get educated and pay no attention to all the garbage you hear on air from the SWR myths to what stuff is even worth using and the whys and hows of radio! I may be exaggerating but I would say 99 percent of the stuff you hear on the cb radio is nonsense and made up by what someone thinks he knows! I hate to see cbers getting ripped off by the roadside chop shops promises and meaningless mods and the bunk junk gear in the truck stops that actually hurt your radio performance. I won't even go into antennas!! |

100% agreed about researching anything you plan to buy, and not taking a radio buddy's word for it. matt |

Then throw in that what might work for them may not work as well for you and your station. |

Wildrat, got a Bencher inline here and it works very well for me. Setup: I-Maxx 2K, w/GPK 43'up, SIW coax, three 8' ground rods tied together w/6 guage solid copper wire running all the way up and connected to the GPK. Bencher YA-1, TS 500V, Magnum Omega Force, & a Pyramid 52 amp PS. Makes a fun combo Maco Beams still on the ground Bottom Line: No bleedin in the hood round here. 73's |

Pat, how well does ya'lls Vectronics work at filtering TVI out as apposed to the Bencher one? I have a Vectronics inline where I hook the antenna first, then the Palomar meter, then the Super cobra which is doing about 300 watts, and then the RCI-2980WX. I do get TVI on my TV, with the "box" on, but does alright with just the radio itself. I have everything grounded, including the antenna and pole. Pistonpopper CEF #718 |

certain times, when the moon is right....i CAN interfere with my own TV's. i don't use my mfj or vectronics filters anymore. i use a B&W 6/1000 for 6 meters, with it grounded to an 8' copper rod, i do not touch any of my own TV's. i use an ICE on my mfj1700C 6x6 antenna switch for CB, & seem to be alright there, too. the B&W 10/1500 i use on radios that don't go through the antenna switch. my S9 can shut off the kids PS2 through the vectronics, so i don't use it anymore. |

So then Pat, ya'll are telling me that the B&W 10/1500 does ya'll a good job on canceling the TVI with the s-9? How much and where did ya get the filter at? Wonder in my situation, if the B&W 10/1500 or Bencher YA-1 filter, and a choke will significantly cut the interference to neighbors TV's, cordless phones and etc. even when I run my Super Cobra 200 box and my 2980 WX? I am the assisstant RV park manager, so i don't want to chase away any customers! Pistonpopper CEF # 718 |

have had my B&W & ICE filters for a long time. actually got the 6 meter B&W off auction, & see plenty of the HF B&W filters there for under $30 usually. everything needs to be grounded properly for the filters to work their best. crummy install or equipment on TVI recipients end can cause headaches, even when you're set up right. just gotta go for it! |
