I am seriously thinking of replacing my Antron-99 to an IMAX-2000. Since I live in a travel trailer I am limited to having my pole up only 20 ft right now with no guy wires. The park will not allow me to put any guy wires out. I am thinking of getting a 50 ft. push-up pole, and only putting it up to 36 ft, so that some of the pole is actually strengthened by the other parts of the pole towards the base and just above the roof line of the trailer, and fastening it at the top of the trailer, and about 2/3 of the way up the side, right by the range hood vent. Any ideas? Will it withstand the wind without guywires?

I had a 36 foot telescoping mast up with a Maco 103-C 3 element beam, and had it guyed at all but one location. In a heavy, steady wind storm, the mast buckled at the one section that wasn't guyed and it bent in half and came down.

You may not have the wind load with th A-99 that I had with the beam, but I don't think you can get any guarantees with the way you want to do it.

You are lucky that you can have some kind of antenna in the park. We have a seasonal site for our TT and I can only have antennas no more than 3 feet above the roof line. I guess thats so if something falls, it will stay on our site and not risk falling onto a neighboring site.

That Imax is a great antenna, but it is 24 feet long, and then you are putting it on a mast. If something happens, will it risk coming down on someone else's site?

I am going to experiment with a dipole antenna this year. It is less visible, and less damaging if it comes down.

Do you have problems with interference in your radio receive from the 12v. power devices in your trailer? I get all kinds of interference from exhaust fans, the converter unit, etc.
Wondering if you do, or if you found a solution.

It would probably work if you mount it to the side of the building as you stated 2 thirds up. Each section of a push up has to be extended fully before it locks into place though so your gonna have a weak spot somewhere. I would mount the antenna not on the tip of the pole but down the pole a bit for better leverage. You could possibly modify the pushup by cutting away some of the top section?

I think that I am gonna get a couple of sections of tower, and cap plus section which should put me up 29 feet, and then use part of the present pole to mount the IMAX on, putting it about 6 feet up above the top of the cap. Then I'll attach the tower at the roof of the trailer, also at the range vent cover, and then put a strap to the frame of the trailer. I don't think it'll go anywheres! With the lmr-400 coax and silver pl-259's I should be a lot better and cleaner station.
