Hi Guys, Any idea where I can fing a Magmount for the Avanti Hippo or 6' Moonraker mobile antennas? These antennas have a unique connector which was shared with Antenna Specialist and Avanti mobiles. Thanks Tim 26 OP 141 |

Nothing unique about that mount. It's just a light-duty SO-239 mount. Such mounts are usually used on low end vhf/uhf Japanese mobile antennas...such as those made by Comet and Diamond. Comet even makes some rather good (far from a proper NMO hole mount) and versatile SO-239 for trunk lips and hatchbacks. Even some with motorized tilt bases to lay the antenna down for low clearances without getting out of the vehicle. Comet, Diamond, even Larsen, and others have hole mount and mag-mounts with the So-239 mounting base. There are also So-239 mount to NMO mount adapters out there on the market. |

Correction... It is Diamond Antenna that makes the motorized tilt-base that I mentioned in the previous post. I get those 2 Jap company's products mixed up quite often as their offerings are so very similar. So similar, in fact, that I suspect that the manufacturer is one and the same...and just markets it's products under 2 different labels for some reason. |

Rldake, Nope its unique Ok. Its not a SO239 as you said. I know because I have that mount on other antennas I own. Like most manufactures it was made to thier Avanti's and Antenna Specialist spec in order to run there antenna's only . In fact on closer inspection on both my antenna's both Avanti and Antenna Specialist mounts are different! Still looking for a magmount for the Avanti. Not one on the auctions sites in all this time :-( |
