Here is the desdription...... "The LDG TW1 provides an aural spoken indication of power and SWR using a digitally recorded voice. It is ideal for the vision-impaired, for those of us in the “bi-focal set”, or just for those times when you need to be looking somewhere else. At the press of a button, the TW-1 speaks the forward power, reverse power or SWR. Three languages are available: English, Spanish and German. It includes its own internal top firing speaker; no external audio hookups are needed. The TW-1 also offers a continuous tone mode for tuning. Simply press and hold the Forward button, and a tone indicates power. As you adjust your amplifier or antenna tuner, a higher tone indicates higher power. This is just the thing for peaking your amplifier while keeping a close watch on the grid current. You can select either long or short voice reports (verbose or terse modes). Long reports include descriptors like “thousand” or “hundred” and end with “forward watts” or “reverse watts”. Short reports speak only the numerical value of the measurement you’ve selected for a quick reading. The TW-1 needs just 1 watts to operate, but will handle up to 2000 watts PEP, making it suitable for everything from QRP to the largest amplifiers in amateur service. The TW-1 is accurate to ± 5% of reading across the entire power range; this may very well be the most accurate wattmeter you own. Resolution is 1 watt or 1% of reading (whichever is higher). The TW-1 is microprocessor controlled, and can easily be upgrade in the field with a simple chip exchange. It requires 11 – 15 volts DC at 200 mA maximum, but consumes almost no current when not speaking".

I got it in the mail today. It's sweet looking. I won't be able to test it until I get my antenna up. I plugged it up for giggles and pushed the button for FWD watts and the Voice said 0 watts> pushed the button for reverse watts the voice said 0 reflected or is it reverse watts> pushed the SWR button and it said zero. Note this is with the meter not connected to anything. I can hardly wait to hook it up and give it a test run. Maybe Copper can have Lon test one and post the results. |

Cornbrown, I would be happy to do a Review on any item but personally I would NEVER use a talking meter that you have to constantly keep pushing a button to find out what the SWR is. That would mean on the Sunday CEF Nets I would be pushing that stupid button 5000 times and my poor old fingers could not take it. With three different antennas in the air, I do NOT want to have to push a button every time I flip the antenna switch to hear what the SWR is. I WANT TO SEE WHAT THE SWR IS ALL THE TIME / EVERY TIME I KEY THE MIC. Any Thing can happen to an antenna at Any Time and if you have to keep pushing a button to find out what the SWR is, that would get Old Real Fast. It sounds like a neat "toy" but I personally would not trust one or feel safe using one. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN

I hear you Lon. But I still like it for maybe the wow factor. The company did ask if I had any suggestions to make the prduct better. I am going to suggest a Led display to show Watts and SWR along the voice. Anyway I think it would be a hot seller at Copper if you determined it was accurate in your test |

I got one for a blind CB'er. He loves it! It cost 150.00. It goes up to 2kw. It also tells you your swr. You can change it from english to spanish, or german. BTW-if you yell loud, it will tell you peak watts! |

Or for anyone who forgets to constantly look at their meter's every time they key up when transmitting or do not have lighted meter's for use at night. Lon ~ Tech808 ~ N9CEF CEF#808 ~ CEF HAM#33 ~ CVC#002 10-10 #61493 ~ 10-10 VP#2688 Tech808@copperelectronics.com
