Talltower, First off Welcome to the Copper Forum! I would suggest Radio Shack if they have any on hand as the Oversize shipping charges on one would cost you more than the antenna. Hope this helps, Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |

Tech808, Here is my question: I have a 05 volvo semi with dual volvo antennas and I'm currently using the stock antennas, Just wondering if the 102" whip would be better, Because sometimes I can hear the person I'm talking to clear and he can't hear me that well. I have a cobra 29 that has been peaked and tuned. Thnks for the help. |

putting 102" whips on westcoast mirror's you be hitting over pass bridges... If you want to replace whats on there now I would go with the duel twin WILSON 5000 I'm a Trucker too and the Wilson 5000 works great on my KW so I would think it would be just as good on the volvo Hope this helps Starface CEF#476 Auburndale,FL |

Maybe that has a lot more to do with how you're operating the radio than your antenna. Are you using echo? Do you scream into your microphone or speak normally? How close to your mouth is your microphone when you're talking? Have you been told your radio is "loud" or some other word that might mean you're horribly distorted? Have you ever heard yourself over the air(not on talkback because that's not actually your over the air audio)? |

I guy new to radio was driving behind me one morning watergating on my conversation with my dad, Actually he thought I was talking to myself because he asked who the heck I was talking to. He could not hear my dad on the base at 3 miles away nor could he tranmit that far with his cobra 29 with 200 watt amp. He really thought I was messin with him so I offered to stop at a gas station and let him see the difference in my radio and his. Come to find out his antennea was mounted to his spare tire swingarm and not to mention the ton bondo in the door. He had a simple problem, his antenna was not grounded well to its counterpoise. The next day he was blowin some smoke and lucky to have no damage to his radio and amp. |

Bought a 102" whip today from local R. Shack.$20 plus tax. This place keeps them in the backroom(not on display) so you may have to ask. I was in same store recently and asked about a whip-that salesperson was not aware of whip being in the backroom. Deer_Hunter |

$20!?! I guess shipping them individually really adds to the cost. They're a pain to deal with. Unfortunately I know first hand. |
