i was wondering if anyone has used one? just curious as to how well it performed and if it would be better than a magnet mount..i think it would be great to use since you would barely be able to see it..but it would be frequency specific.. second question..if you are using a 2meter/440 dual band radio, and wanted to use these antennas, you wouldhave to buy 1 antenna for each band..so to connect them both to the radio youd have to use an antenna selector? |

I've never actually seen one of the little Antennex "radoms"...but from the pictures of it in the catalogs, it appears to be much more visible than either a single band vhf or uhf 1/4 wave antenna, or a dual band antenna, properly mounted on a NMO hole mount. As to the 2nd question: It depends on the dual band radio... some have separate feedline connections (one for each band)...some have just one connection. If you have just the one connection...then yes you would have to use an antenna switch OR better yet use a diplexer....so that you can use both bands at the same time, without turning a switch. If you go the switch route...be sure that the switch is rated for vhf/uhf applications. Many are not. |

I use a dual band hustler 2/440 and it is a compromise. The best moble antenna ever made for 2 meters is the hustler 5db gain colinear (7 foot ) wip it cannot be beat. |

I foolishly bought an Antenex antenna. They don't tell you you have to have a special mount. Waste of money. I'm stuck with it and it will likely rot in my shed outback. Dumb, dumb dumb. I can't believe I believed the hipe. Mikefromms |

In all fairness, if you can mount it, it would work fine in a city area where you don't get more than 25 miles from a repeater. I just had a bad experience mounting it. mikefromms |
