Francis antennas. Nobody likes them? Never hear anything about them here. Maybe its because they are so simple looking and skinny? I must say that they are my favorite mobile antenna now that I think about it. With good coax ,mount, grond and vehicle location I always get a standing wave of 1.5 or less. They always perform great for me!! Anybody else like these antennas? I know if you try em youll like em and hey they look cool too. |

Years ago when I was just learning the basics, a friend of mine pointed me toward the Francis line. Well I worked with a 102" whip and could never get the SWR's where I wanted them. I found a Francis 96" and installed it. WOW! what a difference, low SWR's and great performance. Yeah, I was still learning and nowadays I could get that 102" whip to work, but the transmit and receive on that Francis was fantastic. I gave it to someone who needed an antenna, and I regret not having one at my fingertips now. I never tried the shorter ones, only the 96" gray, but if I run across another, I'll buy it in a heartbeat. Alsworld |
