how would you benefit from using a dual coil 10k vs a single coil? is it more surface area? or is it just to run a shorter stinger? i will be placing an order for a 10k shortly and just want to know which one to order..from the top of my mout to the roof of the cab of my truck is 13"..how much higher above the cab do i need to get the coil(s)? the wilson 5000 i have has a 10" shaft and only 1/3 of the coil is above the cab.. just wondering what to order, the single or dual? and what shaft length? 22" or 27? by raising the coil several inches above the cab how and what benefits do you get? also does the 10k have more surface area than the wilson? |

If you must run a loaded antenna you want the load to be as high as possible for the antenna to have the least amount of loss to ground. So the higher you get the coil above the cab the better it'll work. |

styer, i went from 17" single to 22" double. don't notice any difference rcv or xmit, but can get swr's lower, reflected power lower on double & the double coil is shorter. e-mail kale, owner/builder of predator antennas. he is VERY helpful, & his recommendations seem to be right on the money. e-mail me if you don't have his e-address. |

I agree with Patzerozero's above post. Same results here. |
