Ok, i have had bad static in my Imax 2000 ever since i bought it./ Got worse in winter time./ Today, i took my Imax 2000 down & installed my old Shakespear Super Big Stick./Ran radio for a few hours and had no problems with bad Static./ My friend offered to let me use his Imax 2000, so, took down Super Big Stick & mounted his Imax 2000./ Been running radio all night with no static problems./ MY IMAX 2000 has a 1.1 SWR, but, bad static no matter where i mount it./ I have even tried mounting it at other peoples houses, same result, bad static./ Do you have any idea what could be a wrong with it??????? Or should i just order another one from Coppers?? The one i have now did NOT come from Coppers.

1st how long have you had the bad Imax 2000? It sounds to me like a bad or broke wire in side the fiberglass.... if you tryed your big stick and another Imax 2000 with no problems then your answered your own Question (BAD ANTENNA) I would try another Imax and see if that doesn't fix the problem.... also try calling up Solercon and is what they say... they might even replace it free.. in the mean time try getting a new Imax 2000 from our friends here at Copper?! |

Pig040....LOL... your funny...LOL I have a Maco 5/8 and an I-10k, but, have no room to mount either one./ I'll call Solarcon./ I had my Imax less than 1 year./ There has been major static and buzzing in my recieve everyday on my Imax./ Been blaming it on close factory and dry weather./ Was baffled when Maco 5/8 and I-10k did not pick up static./ Then, recently put up Beam and it didn't pick it up either./I'm going to call Solarcon and go from there./I like the Imax mainly because its plug-in-play, no radials, and easy to mount with my limited space./ If i had more room//// PIG040, I would use my Maco 5/8...LOL |

RW, I would love to have one of the I-10k's but with all the other antennas I have, mama might take exception to another antenna arriving at the door! Rich |

Warrior, When I was dissecting A99's for my review, I had one that did not get soldered. The conections inside the tuning base section were just wrapped around each other but had not been soldered. This antenna was also very noisy. It is possible (I am not saying for sure) that you may have an Imax that did not get soldered. |

Thanks everyone, i have been running my friends Imax 2000 with no problems./ Still trying to get a hold of solorcon./ Pig040----don't waste money on a I-10k if you already have a Maco 5/8./ Honestly, there is not much difference between the 2 antennas in performance./Not with the ones i have anyway./ I-10k is built like a tank though./ Anyhow, enough of my rambling./ THANKS!
