A Turner Ultra-Kicker Base Station antenna?? This was basically 2 3element beams, crossed at 90 degrees from each other, and had a rotor cable much like a A/S Super Scanner that went to a switch box. The switch box gave 8 different directions + Omni, instead of the A/S Super Scanner 3 directions. Gain was claimed to be 8.3db...similar to a 3 element beam in any one direction. Anybody ever have one of these?? I Would love to get one and test it. |

I do remember reading about, and seeing ad's in CB Mag's about the Ultra-Kicker antenna. It was some time back in the 70's. A lot of those years are kind of fuzzy in my memory but I remember I wanted one back then but could not afford it at the time. I dont recall ever talking to anyone who actually owned one. It looked like a great idea at the time. FYI: I found a "NEW IN THE FACTORY SEALED BOX" Super Scanner a few weeks ago. It is in my garage now waiting for the snow and ice to go away in the spring. I plan to put it on a 40ft tower. Cant wait to get it on the air. 73 for now and God Bless, John The Stargazer |

Any body got the upper switch/board for the Super Scanner? I have one up and running, but the OMNI match is burned (the coil looks bad). I have SWR problems on the SW beam, not continous, but haven't got it pinpointed yet. I know the problem is up top. The board looks real simple, I may give a shot at making one. I like it a lot, but would like to redo it. |
