I really like this amp just looking for more info. What about the power supply. If I run it on high how many extra (amps) will be left. I have a 2950 and just wonder if it has enough extra amps to power an export radio. Same question for the boomer base amp!!!!! |

Nickel, Sorry not much help here as I have never used an Amp with a power supply in them or have any experience with them. Ok Forum Members, time to help this man out with some information. I am sure some of you are using these Amps. Lon Tech808 |

Thanks 808 I'm just getting back into cb was out for 8 years and looking for an all in one amp / power supply. sick of all these wires all over the place. I have a 20 amp power supply now but with my 2950 that don't leave many amps left. So I just want to get a kicker with the power supply in it. 200 quality watts is all i really want. Just wondering if the solid state (SKIPPER) was better that the other palomars/Boomers. I want quality solid state!!!!! And will the amp have enough extra amps to power my 2950.??????? |

nickel see my post under: amplifiers>> boomer 500 base amps that may help, my preference would be 2 seperate supplies a little on the larger side, i have 10 amp, 35 amp and 50 amp. always use 10 for cb's, 35 for 10m converts and 50 for solid state amps no bigger than 4-2879 transistors. only using 15amp-120vac outlets, but have 2 seperate lines from breaker panel to avoid throwing breakers during moments of overzealousness. |

Hi Nickel, I have a Palomar Skipper 350 (2-pill type) It works great. The specs are: Palomar Skipper 350 Base Amplifier Manufacturer: Palomar Amplifiers Model Palomar Skipper 350 Pills (2 X) 2SC2879 Dimensions 5 3/8"H,7 1/8"W, 10 3/4"D Frequency Range 10-40 Meter Amp Draw (continuous) 4 Amps Amp Draw (maximum) 4 Amps Class AB SSB Delay Automatic Pre-amp Yes Driven Required None (10 Watts Power Max) Output (RMS) 150 Watts Power Output (PEP) 310 Watts 2 x 2SC2879 Clean Modulation 25 Amp Power Supply Thermal Shutoff Built-in Fuse Holder Palomar Skipper 350 Base Amplifier Power Stages 3 Voltage 115 Volts AC Yes the internal power supply will run your radio. This one has been used with a 2950 and a 2510. The power supply works fine powering the radio and the amp at the same time. I use it now with several radios. rci2985DX Robyn SB-540D Uniden Washington Sears Roadtalker 40SSB PC-122XL It works great with all of them. Just follow the specs above and DONT OVERDRIVE it and it will sound clean, clear and LOUD. For a well built dependable daily driver amp I would recommend it highly. I have used mine daily for around 4-5 years and its still as good as day one. Hope this helps, good luck with it. 73 for now and God Bless, John KB9RYI CEF 507 HAM 71 The Stargazer Wisconsin Unit 409 |

Would this amp work with a RCI-2980 WX with an Antron-99, lmr-400 coax at about 35 feet in the air on a tower? Would concrete blocks and concrete bags at the base of the tower along with anchoring it at the roofline of my travel trailer and at where the range hood vent comes out be enough that I'd get by without guywires?
