Hey all

Im having a hard time getting the swr on a wilson trucker sw2000 low(long shaft), it read 2.5 all times.

I tried:
Grounding the antenna mount on the bed of the truck to the frame
move the mount location from behing the cab to near the tailgate running RG8 coax
The center coil sits above the roof of the truck for about 3inches
Also tried with 2 different radios a Emperor ts5010 and galaxy dx959

I dont know anything else to do it was a $72 lost bucks
Thanks

I have one, and had the same problem. I moved it to the back of the bed, and it has 1.0 in the center of the band and 1.2 at the ends. It works well, just get it away from the cab.

I also hade the same problem with a 4 ft wilson fiber glass type.
Tried every thing ot would not go down below 2.5.
I just went out and bought the mag mount for my wilson 1000 when not on my car it's on my truck.
s.w.r is 1.2 to 1.5 and I have not had any trouble with it yet.
Except for low hanging tree limbs.

Chalk up another bad swr on a Silverado extracab 2k2. I have my coil about 4 inches over the cab and still have the same result. I think I'll give it one last try with a 36" long shaft on this Wilson 2000 trucker. After this I will just move the antenna.

Sanddiegoduner,

We have ran the Wilson 1000 Mag mounts on our Ford Explorers and F150 Supercrew 4 door trucks for years now and have never had a problem with SWR.

Using about every kind of Radio and Amp combination there is.

We have always had a 1.1 to 1.4 across the band and always had Excellent Performance.

We ground the Cab to Frame on both sides and Radio is also grounded and we get power direct from the batteries.

Works for us.

Lon, I have the cab, bed,and antenna mount grounded directly to the frame. I have the radio drawing power directly from the battery. I'd prefer to not use a magnet mount antenna as I do some serious offroading out in the desert and the magnet would move around and scratch the paint.
