What is a good scanner that receives 11 meters. I think it will have to be a older one and thats ok. I would like a base station but the mobile works also.

The Radio Shack Pro-93 receives 11 m pretty well with the right antenna. It is AM/FM only though. NO SSB.

two scanners come to mind and both may be tricky to find.they are the rs2006 from ratshack and the uniden bearcat 8900. the 8900 started at the bottom of the 11 meter band and ran to about 1200 mhz with a few gaps when unmodified(read between the lines)i used it mainly for listening to military aircraft and the space shuttle till nasa changed their freq and modes of transmission.the 8900 has am,fm wide and fm narrow bands.an outboard bfo was needed for ssb reception.it was also an excellent reciever used in conjunction with c-band sattelite for scpc reception.thinking back about it now it is one of those pieces of equiptment i wish i still had.

Listening to 11m on a scanner is disappointing at best. The bandwidth allowed by the filters is too wide for decent adjacent channel rejection and you get lots of bleedover. Intermodulation is also an issue because of the wide bandwidth of the reciever. You can replace the 455kHz filters, but it'll cause problems with the FM reception. I've got 3 RS PRO 2006's, AOR1000, AOR1500, AOR2500 and a Uniden 2500. All of them recieve AM 11m and 2 of them also recieve SSB. None of them are good at it, and the cheapest unit was over $200. Your best bet is to buy a CB that scans or if you like to spend a lot of cash find a good shortwave reciever to use - I suggest one with multiple filters. If Radio Shack has a scanning CB (I don't have any idea if they do and I'm not taking the time to check) I'd suggest one of them. Radio Shack specs their radios with dual ceramic filters so they have better adjacent channel rejection and because of that they will work better as a scanner. Less bleedover because of higher adjacent channel rejection.

Uniden BC350C has CB as one of it's pre-programmed bands, I use it all the time.

Plus you can use the BC350 as a base or a mobile.

I use the Uniden BC350C also in my mobile and it has the CB frequencies and it works really good.

I run the Bearcat bc350 in da WireMobile. Built my own little magnet mount for a Beartracker antenna and it picks up vhf and 800mhz perfect! That little suction cup wire antenna that goes in the windshield is rubbish. The 11 meter band works but not really well. Can only pick up strong signals.
KEEP IT REAL!

I run a VX-2r with an external Mag mount. no SSB though. scans a little slow after 100 memories but it can scan individual bands as well.
