I just bought a HR2510 and want to get a amp for it in the near future. What would be a good match for it? I dont want to spend alot of money and dont want a lot of watts(150 or so). Thanks |

I have a HR2510 as a second set-up in the garage/shop. It is hooked up to a GALAXY 350 and out through a IMAX2000. But I have never had the 2510 modification done that allows adjustable power. I dropped the output to 4 Watts AM. I'm telling you all this because it doesn't put out more than 125-150W with my set-up. But I have talked all over the U.S. with it. The COPPER KL-300 is only $60. (I have the KL-500 on another set-up and it is outstanding!) Take a look at the KL series: "http://www.copperelectronics.com/cgi-bin/checkitout/checkitout.cgi?catalogSTORE:CKIE:prodW90-KL300P+"

The Cobra 350 and 450 xl amps are very nice and clean. A Texas Star 400 or 500 would also do very well. You could also look at the Magna Force 350 and 400. If you want the best you could also have a custom Joker amp built to your exact wants and needs. |

Humm I have a RCI 2950 DX with a wilson 1000 trunk mount with no amp! And I have talked all over the United States. To be honest with you I think an amp is for those who feel insecure about there radio equipment! Or need a good tec to work on it. Just my thought's 73's Len |

I second the KL-500. With the variable power you can run approx. 150W and if you want more you have it. I added a fan to mine. |

I use the Kl40 now, but only when I talk distance or have a problem talking to someone because of noise level. I would like to get a base amp, I have heard that the tube amps cause less tvi. And I would have to have variable power selection, so as to run low power and higher only if I needed it. |

Leonard, I too have talked some good skip with a barefoot 2950, Galaxy 99, and Delta Force. That is only when mother nature lets you though. I talk every night to stations up to 35 miles away on AM, some of which are mobile to mobile contacts. To do this when you want you will need 100-300 watts. My Delta Force with the PPE mod is a proven talker, with a Joker 2 pill I can run with alot of base stations even in the mobile. Everyone has to decide what is right for them. |

Well if running an amp means we are insecure about our radio equipment then 95% of CBers in Florida are insecure. Maybe President Bush can create a Dept of Homeland Insecurity for us. |
