Does anyone know how many watts Francis hotrod antennas are rated to handle? I have a 4 1/2 foot hotrod on my pickup and was wondering. |

Run it till it melts the plastic tip cover then back off. Seriously about 500 watts. |

I have an Amazer, 8 feet tall. Gives me the best modulation of any mobile antenna I've had and the best local coverage. They (Francis) must have worked hard to come up with a whole line of antennas loaded with a helix instead of a close coil. The 8 footer has a pattern which is similar to my A-99 base antenna (not as effective, of course) and it is the best mobile antenna, overall, I've ever had. It is just a little tough to mount on the average vehicle. I hope you folks can enlighten me on the performance of the shorter versions. The only other big mfr. who makes helically loaded mobile antennas is Shakespeare, that I know of. |

Znut I have the eight foot Amazer also, and the 103 ss whip, whenever I read a good post on either of the two, I find myself changing back and forth. |

KB, I've never tried a 1/4 wave steel whip, that would be the ideal antenna if not for weight and mounting considerations! How much of a difference can you tell? I've heard that there is a difference in favor of the whip, but the amazer is more broad banded. |
