I have a very small 3 amp Tripp Lite power supply to run my external 7 diget Frenquency counter, and it said 5 minutes on, 5 minutes off, does this mean turn it off for 5 minutes or just don"t key down to read it for 5 minutes, thank you guys |

Karatebutcher Your 3 amp Tripp Lite will easily run your frequency counter. The counter only draws a few milliamp. Jeff, kc0gxz. |

I knew for some reason you have been getting cabin fever or something. When I hook my freq counter up to my 3 amp power supply it always reads 60hz when I transmit or recieve. Is that bad? |

Karate I'm confused a little, unless I am reading your post wrong. Your supply should, as Jeff stated, run your frequency counter with no problems. What are you referring to with "5 minutes on/5 minutes off"? The frequncy counter? Or the supply? The 5 on/5 off is referring to a "duty cycle" of use...or a 50/50 duty cycle. If you are asking about the supply, it would mean, IF you were using your supply at maximum output (i.e. drawing 3 amps continuously) then your should only do that for 5 minutes, then let it 'rest' for 5 mintues so that it can cool down. You would not have to shut the supply off, just dont load it down for 5 minutes. If the only thing you have on this power supply is the frequncy counter, turn it on and use away. Does this help? |

Karatebutcher, Not sure about the Tripp Lite 3 amp, but since you posted I hooked up my PTFC6 Freq Counter to my OLD Kustom 502SL 3 Amp power supply and it has been on since 7am Sept 26, 2003 with no problems. You should not have any problems. Lon Tech808 |

Karatebutcher Sorry I couldn't get back to your earlier post. You could leave that thing on from here to dooms day and you won't hurt it. However, I wouldn't try running a souped up radio on it though. ----------------------------------------------- Lon. You actually have a working Kustom 502SL? Now that's a name I haven't heard in years. Jeff, kc0gxz. |
