Well folks after yesterdays and last night's storms (100 MPH winds) here in Bloomington/Normal, Il.

This is the first time 100 Plus winds have been recorded with out a Tornado.

I can give this report on Antennas.

12 Imax 2000 Antennas that I have sold, Still up, and working.

I guess if they did not bend as much as they did they would not have made it.

1 set of Joe Gunn 3+3 is now a 0+2

My SE Beam's still up and working.

305 Still up and working.

2 Meter Antennas still up and working.

6000 still without power.

14 telephone poles snapped off

Trees, Power lines, Phone lines, Cable tv, all took a beating.

The good news is yesterdays storms are gone.

Plenty of free firewood. Plenty of work for Roofers. Including our place.

The bad news is more Severe Storms are expected for latter today.

Oh and we still have power for the Computer and Radios here.

Lightning Show was Excellent, except for the 1st Sargant screaming a lot. Her 696F SSB Base got a workout with the weather alert.

She said something about moving to Louisville, KY. and I said GREAT! then I could be at COPPER all the time.

Then she said we would stay here as storm damage would be cheaper than having me that close to Copper.

OH WELLLLLLLLLLL! I tried.

yes been seeing the video on the tv news of your storms in your area, might want to invest in a generator, but then it might never get used but once every 5 - 7 years, so it WOULD be a big investment...about like some one on a 10,000 foot mountain getting flood insurance...lol...good luck on todays storms...kd4amg

As I've been trying to say all along, those I-Max 2Ks are a lot stronger than most people give them credit for. That VERY flexible fiberglass is used just for the reason you experienced last nite.

Do you have a alternative power source for (communications) your Ham and CB gear in case of a power outage in emergencie situations like you had yesterday?

And I'm very happy to hear that the 1st Sargant faired well through the storm and kept you safe and calm. What a trooper!!!

Lon,

Good to here you made it through the storms o.k.. I was watching them on the dopler on my computer and wished I was up there, I am a storm chaser on the side. We get alot of high winds out here in west Texas. It is not uncomman to get 100 mile an hour winds here out of storms. There are no trees to block it. I have had my A-99 up for 8 years and it has handled every thing mother nature has thrown at it.
Good luck to you and the Sargant in getting every thing repaired.

Lon,

I'm glad is all well with you and Shirley concerning your safety. Hope the followup storms have not added to the roof damage (or any associated leakage). I was wondering how the SE would hold up concerning it's windload (compared to the sticks)? Glad to hear a success story beating the odds with the majority of your antennas fairing very well. Good news for sure.

UPDATE,

Well made it thru the first day and then got it again last night.

8 1/2 to 12 inches of Rain in different part's of Bloomington/Normal.

Everything is Flodded, Caused MAJOR HAVOC, I-55 North & South was shut down due to TWO accidents at off ramps to truck stop's, So Truckers tried to go thru town, that didn't work as underpasses flooded with 5-6 feet of water, Then tried to go around Veterans PKY by pass and that also flooded and again no Luck.

Truckers could not get to Truck stops as it was flooded A block before both of them.

Glad we are at the Highest point here in Bloomington.

Water was shooting 5 to 6 feet in air out of Storm drains, New retention Basins that city built around K-Mart, & Malls DID NOT WORK, People stranded in malls and stores could not even get out to get to roads.

They say it was a 100 year Storm, Glad we won't be here for the next one!

Still Drying Out.

Lon & Shirley

Just taking time getting water out and trying to dry everything.
