Looking for a stud mounted antenna for a trunk mount that is not over 4ft. Used a on mid size 4 door with a 3900HP Gold, 25watt output. (adj dead key for amp) with a KL-400. Currently have a Firestick 4ft. Need broader bandwith antenna that is NOT over 4 ft and will not drain my checking acct? Considering a Wilson 500 with the shorter whip option for another $12.95. Looking for a antenna that is not top heavy, trunk material is thin, I have re-inforced it with large washers, ect,..Trying to make an informed decision, b-4 I buy. Height limited, but could "consider" a magnet mount to spread the load over a larger area. Thanks for any idea's, Great site here! |

Climber My experence with moble antennas is a 4 foot is going to be narrow band what i did so i could use one ant on 2 radios on 2 diffrend bands was to use a antenna tunner ( on each radio tunned to the freuqency i was using with that radio ) and cut the ant for center freq. The one i used that worked well with my radios was the little antenna matcher/ power meter that copper sells for 25 bucks if you dind a good ant that is that short let me know. Bruce |

Climber I would think a base loaded antenna would best serve your needs. As far as the height restriction goes I find using a magmount with detatchable stinger works best for me. I have a grand caravan and spend a lot of time in 7' parking garages. It is mounted in the center of the roof when in use and I unscrew it before parking. I am aware you mentioned price being a factor. Getting all needs met cheap can present a problem. I run a Wilson 1000 mag mount with great results. It will handle the range and power. |

Thanks for the feedback, A $100 antenna is no problem, a Wilson 1000 or 5000 is to high for my trunk mount getting into the garage ect,.. I can just buy the Firestick "4 pack" covering the 26-30 mhz band, 5/8 wave, top loaded antenna's for $xx.xx and change when needed. Wanted to make sure I was not overlooking other options before I spent the money. Trying not to buy now, learn later.! Thxs, |

Climber, another option is the magnet mount K-40. It detaches from the base mount with a 1/4 twist within seconds. Alsworld |
