I think Astatic just shot themselves in the foot. With all the money it costs for research and retooling they probably could have Replaced the machine that they said needed rebuilt to continue the Much better looking D-104. guess they must have thought the market was oversaturated with used ones and wanted a new product with a gimmic. |

I agree with you funtimebob. The Astatic is much better looking. I hope somebody will report the performance of the "silver stopsign" after they give it a whirl. It sure makes you wonder what these company's are thinking when they retire a superb product. It kinda reminds me of the Camaro. This is the last year Chevy is going to produce them. I simply dont understand it! You know they sell tons of them because you see them everywhere. Oh well, maybe both company's have something up there sleeve...Eddie |

Goofy looking IMHO! Well you all know what that means nbow that astatic axed the D 104 line. CB retail shops will really jack up the prices of their used D 104! The other day i saw one of those "silver stopsigns" at a local shop and the guy wants well over 125.00 for one!!!! |

WOnder what it sounds like in a blind audio test. If it's the same as a D104, more power ot it. |

These mics are NOT made by by us. The machine that was used to make the bases for the D1o4 is old and broken and would be way to expensive to fix, A NEW one was quoted at over $1,000,000 We will continue to offer support. |

Astaticman, Please Read the Review on them in the Subscriber Preview section. At no time when writing the Review or in Copper ads have I, or Copper ever Stated or Implied that this product was made by Astatic. As the Picture at the top of the page showes the name is: SuperStar Silver Salute Desk Microphone I hope this will help to clear thing's up. Lon Tech808 emailto:Tech808@copperelectronics.com |

Lon, Have a question that's been on my mind since this new microphone came on the market. How does it stack up against the Silver Eagle and the rest of the D-104 line that has been the microphone of choice for as many years as I can remember? Regards Yankee |

Well as far as stacking up it does that and More. Read my Review and you will see some of the Major point's that I and the 1st Sargant like. Don't get me wrong as the Astatic Desk Mic's were and are very good. I have about every single Astatic model in my collection as well as two of the Final Edition Silver Eagles. The Super Star Silver Salute incorporates Newer Technology and Newer Features. It is a BIG Winner! And I really like the Smaller Size and New Looks. It is smaller but just as heavy and not as easy to tip over with the New design of the base. Lon Tech808

I use the Silver Salute. After I had it about three months I had to re-solder the mic plug, but it's now one of the best I've had. All the reports I get are good and I really like the double keys. I would much rather push down on the switch than throttle the whole mic. |

Lon, While we're at it. Can this new microphone put out the same amount of good audio that the Astatic 10DA head can produce and still be loud and clear as the 10DA? I don't want to order one and find out after I receive it that it's no match for the Silver Eagle base and the 10DA head. BTW do you have an extra 10DA head in working order? I'm looking for one at a right price. Thank you, Yankee |

Astaticman, I don't think an import microphone is ever going to come anywhere near the standards that Astatic has been over the years, I'm 66 years old and have used Astatic D-104s of all sorts for 41 years. Regards, Yankee |

I have not used the Silver Salute as of yet, but the looks are OK in my opinion. Tech808's writeup looks very positive. I am a huge Astatic fan and swear by their microphones. I welcome any new product from this company, and mourn the loss of microphones discontinued. I am curious why the M575 was discontinued though? That seemed to be a high seller, although I am not privy to their sales information. What do they (you) have in store for us Astaticman??? Base or mobile? Alsworld |

After using the Silver Salute for over a year now. The side keyer fell off. Tab that holds it on broke. Took tab off a junk D-104 base mic. These tabs are much stronger than the one they had on the Silver Salute. I also found out that by putting a 500 ohm mic element out of a SuperStar stock mic into the Salute, it has a much better sound. |
