I thought that Copper offered scanners, such as Unidens "Bearcat 780XLT or 895XLT. I'm in the mood to purchase a scanner. Where could you direct me to get information to evaluate the performance of scanners such as the ones I mentioned. I'd like to compare them with Radioshacks PRO-2067 and PRO-2052. There may be others available that have Trunking capabilities. I would appreciate your input. Thanks CPROCKNOW |

Cletus, Trunk tracking scanners only work for analog trunking systems. If the system you are trying to monitor is a digital trunked system, they will not work. All you will hear are data bursts, static, and beeps and blips. Be careful to make sure which type of environment you are trying to monitor or you could be wasting your money. Steve 181 |

Update, Uniden will be releasing several scanner/receivers that will be able to recieve and decode digital transmissions. Check Uniden.com for more info. |

CLETUS DON'T buy a scanner if you are intrested in hearing your local police espically if you are located in a major city. Here in Phila. they have switched over to digital, I have 1,300$ worth of scanners that are now practically useless. Even the Alinco DJX-2000-T, witch is a premium wideband scanner cannot recieve anything. Better yet ask your law enforcement dept if they are going to switch or have the digital frequencys already!!! |
