--Yeah, I wish a few people would hurry up and buy one, lol. I've seen the videos as well on You Tube and like what I see. It's expensive (in my opinion), but it somehow covers from at least 25.5-30 Mhz with 2.0 or less SWR. There have been many times I wish I had one antenna that would work for both CB and 10 meter frequencies, and this looks like it would fit the bill. Two antennas in one. At first I was disappointed it didn't handle a ton of power, but when on 10 meters, I never use more than 100 watts on FM, anyway. --Somehow this antenna doesn't have radials like the Maco V58 I had, but that is fine with me as I will be moving late this year or early next year and I will have neighbors close by and they won't have to look at the "unsightly" radials, lol. |

if its as good as i hear sounds like should be like a imax2k. but i dunno for sure. unlike the imax ive heard the sirio doesnt create rfi in the shack. ive actually seen videos on u tube comparing the two antennas must be the rf choke on the sirio.also like the imax ,the sirio doesnt have the radials dale/a.k.a.hotrod cef426 cvc#64

I seriously doubt the gainmaster is going to beat an Imax2000 with GPK by as much as some claim. I'll reserve complete judgment until I am able to put a gainmaster on the test range. That may happen. Your radio 'Mythbuster' since 1998

You guys will like this! I have used these 4 antennas in the last year: Hy-gain Penetrator 500 A1-Antennas Interceptor I-10K Imax-2000 Sirio Gain Master I-10K - Sold it. Imax - use it for camnping & lending to friends who need to borrow until they afford a new antenna if theirs got broke. Penetrator-500 - Keeping it as a back-up. Sirio Gain Master - Using it and it's the only omni that's ever beat the Hy-gain Penetrator-500 (which beat the I-10k until I lengthened it to .64 & retuned the Tuba, uhm, Clarinet, oops, I mean TROMBONE match) and I run a 667 into it, no problem. Tunes flat swr (>1.4:1) from 25.800 - 29.650 without a tuner. F'n AWESOME antenna. Will absolutely outperform the I-10k & Mr.Coily at wattage levels below ~800w pep, over that stay away!! It's a bit finicky and requires it's own 'space'. Either use insulators in the guy wires or non-metallic guy lines so it is nowhere near another antenna, tree, roof, wires, etc. The Sirio Gain Master is a balanced antenna so anything in it's 'near-field' can upset the pattern for the worse. When I first tried it, it was 1/2 wavelength from the Penetrator but the same height. It sucked. The mast / coax I had it on was previously used for my Imax, and the Imax was S-8.4 at 10 miles, the Penetrator was S-8.9 to Paul, 10 miles away. I put the Gain Master up where the Imax had been and it was S-7, all on the analog meter on Paul's Icom Pro3. Took the Penetrator down and out of the area and the Sirio Gain Master came up to S-9.5!(They weren't in-line to the receiving station, but side-by-side) Moved the Sirio Gain Master to the Penetrator mast and it dropped to S-9.1 to Paul @ 10 miles. About 1 needle width better than the P-500 at 10 miles, but it keeps getting stronger the further out you talk. At 80 miles the Sirio GM was S-4 where the P-500 was S-2.5 on a Kenwood TS-440 meter. Same mast, radio, coax. In a nutshell, @ 10 miles: A99 = S-7 Maco V5/8 = S-8 Imax, I-10K = S-9 Penetrator-500, I-10K .64 = S-9+3db Sirio Gain Master = S-9+5db This was seen on a 1973 vintage E.F. Johnson Messenger 223 meter that could pass for 6 months old it's so pristine and still has all original Johnson Tubes! - And I'm now hearing Europe right through East-Coast DX, where I never before heard them unless I switched to the Quad and pointed over the North Pole from here in Northern Calif. Best $180 you could spend on your <800w pep station. --- Pic of an E.F.J. They were all tested at the same height, 40' to the base. Nothing's built like the $339 I-10K though, except maybe the Mr.Coily at FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS! Can't say the $169 Gain Master won't hold up to over 100mph, but I plan to add another smaller fiberglass section to the top, making 5 total and shortening each one below it by sliding more of each section inside the one below it so it has a stronger, faster taper for less wind loading and even greater strength. It already shows only about 1/2 the flex of the Imax in the wind. The Gain Master makes 50mph wind appear to be only 30mph. - I dig it! It also looks real sharp and has/needs no radials to increase the neighbor 'notice factor'! I recommend wrapping black electrical tape over the red coax coil to keep it fresh looking underneath otherwise it will noticeably fade to a washed-out pink within 4-5 months. I've also had a LW-150 but the Penetrator out-talked it so I sold it. |
