ok i have had the radio for about 4 years and it has been great..i have been through the broken bnc center conductor. sent it to RS service center they fixed it and all was well...(i dont use this every day but when im in the mood to tune something in i pick it up and do so , it spends most of its time on my desk or in my truck when its not being used) i recently picked it up and took it with me while i was running some errands in my truck here in upstate n.y. and it was only picking up the "conventional freqs" that i had programmed such as the local dpw,and some other random stuff but nothing from the local edacs trunking system such as local police, fire, one of the local taxi companies (that i like to laugh at bc of some goofy drivers they have)...but thats beside the point i could see if it was just one companies talkgroup that wasnt being picked up ,but in my case it is nothing in the trunking system at all... this is what i have done so far ... 1.tried different antenna(went back to stock ducky from RS 800mhz upgrade antenna) 2. opened the back cover and checked the previously broken and repaired center bnc conductor(found good continuity even with attempting to wiggle it ) 3.when tuned to a conventional channel with traffic i removed the antenna then reinstalled to test the effect of having it on and off(found the conventional signal came and went just as to be expected when an antenna is/is not present) 4.went through the stored talkgroup id's and made sure none were locked out,and also made sure the system is set to open scanning the only info i can give is in manual mode when on the bank that holds all my 800mhz freqs that the trunking id's would normally show up on going one channel at a time with the up/down arrows i can catch a little traffic here and there but when the pse(pause) button is pressed to try and lock onto it the radio goes back to scanning i have a bad feeling that a component on the curcuitboard went south and if it is related to decoding the trunking system id's it will probably be expensive to have RS repair so i am probably looking into a new radio...BUMMER any help is greatly appreciated.... thanks in advance,Dave in n.y. |

okay im ready to pull my hair out....heres a little updated info i have the pro-97 and was told by someone to try and "initialize" my radio because of issues that i was having i figured what the heck i did it and began entering the 800 freqs for my area on bank 1 starting with channel 5 once that was done i pressed func-trunk chose the edacs sys, chose id bank 1-0 , then pressed func-2 to change to afs format that i am familiar with and proceeded to press pgm and put in the id for a local taxi dispatch that i have listened to in the past without issue before my problems started(that i know would have constant traffic so i could tell if i entered it correctly) and then i pressed enter to save the id...i then pressed txt and added the name and pressed enter to save the name i pressed scan with only bank 1 lit and the scanner would pick up all different traffic that may be on any one of the 800 freqs that i entered(police/fire..etc..)INCLUDING the taxi dispatch that i entered the id for but when the taxi traffic came on it did not identify it with the name or the id on the screen (as it would before my problems)and when i attempted to save the id by pressing trunk nothing happened ,and when i tried to lock that signal with the PSE(pause) button it stopped the scanner on the 800freq and didnt hold the trunking id and a call put in to two diff RS locations tells me the programming software has been removed from store locations by RS corporate so they no longer program these radios in store ----that means they cant bail me out of this mess my question is what am i doing wrong with the process of manually programming my scanner and does the fact that the scanner doesnt recognize the taxi company id when the taxi traffic is on air mean that something is wrong with the scanner and im not crazy any help is greatly appreciated |

Did the police or whoever go to another mode of signal like when our tv's went digital and my rabbit ears are useless now? Our local fuzz did something and my scanners wont pick them up anymore either. |
