I was in my utility shed Monday thinking I'd hidden some things from myself. I found a 1/2 wave 4 radial bottom fed ground plane with 4 static loops at the top, mint in the box. Anyone ever used one? Wally/Pressman/KC4ZWM

It sounds like an Antenna Specialists antenna. I have one here in storage. J.P. Penny used to sell all sorts of CB radio stuff. Some of you youngsters only think of clothing when you think about Penny's. But they used to sell everything that the other big stores did, like Sears. You could buy CB radios, base and mobile antennas, cables, mics, etc. I had a catalog from the late 70's around here somewhere, and the selection was vast. Your radio 'Mythbuster' since 1998

I thought it was a great find. The paper work claims 3.75db gain. Aren't claims grand. Tech 833 gets the award, it is an A S. I had a base load 5/8 I bought at the JC Penny Auto Center in the 70's. The 1/2 wave I have now, I can't remember how I got it, maybe a gift from a friend. The JC Penny Auto Center had so much for CB, I still have one of thier 40 ch base/mobiles. I had one of the 40 ch AM mobiles, it at heart was a Midland/Colt. Had a desk mic that said JC Penny but was a Turner+2. Like 833 said, Pennys had a wide range of CB equipment. Even Sears at one point got into the game. Both had good equipment! The Roadtalker 40 Mobile/Base from Sears was one of the best sounding radios once the clipper range was defeated or expanded. I sure miss the 70's in a lot of ways, had all my hair then. Wally/Pressman/KC4ZWM
