I just ordered a Imax 2000 off the internet with the gpk included. Before I put this up is there any mods I can do to it. Like spray with something to make the fiberglass last longer. I was thinking is there a way I can cut pvc and make a shunt,so this does not bend as much in the wind. Please help. Also was wondering, see vids of this thing bend in half when windy, does the swr change alot in wind. Thanks for the help. |

I have two Imax antennas and have never noticed any change in SWR during windy conditions. Kenny CEF491 Reading the mail around Indianapolis Indiana!

I've never noticed any change in SWR as well. I have seen the top section laid over almost horizontal in the winds.....no change. 1.2:1 right out of the box. I have had a middle section break, just above the coupling, due to high winds and the whipping around action that was multiplied by being 40' up in a pine tree. "In God we trust. Everyone else, keep your hands where I can see them".

I know I haven't really heard of any mods needed for the Imax. I think that's why it's such a great value for a good quality full-length Omni under $100. I've had one for a couple years now and match needle hardly moves even at 100 watts. |

The ice storm we had in North Arkansas back in Feb broke down my old big metal groundplane. After the weather got better, I put up a new Imax 2000. It was working well but I was getting some RF in the house that I didn't get with the other GP. I let it down and put the 9 foot radials from the broke GB under the Imax. That took care of the RF problems and seemed to improve the Imax also. |

Buy plastic automotive wrap. Use it to cover your fiberglass antenna from top to bottom. You'll extend the life of the fiberglass parts of your antenna indefinitely. |
