Anyone have any experience with this brand speaker? I'm looking into using one with AM Mode in a mobile application. The CLR spkr is a small loudspeaker containing a Clear Speech adaptive noise reduction circuit and audio amplifier. It is ideal for mobile radio operation. Noise reduction is superb. The DSP passes the voice and CW sounds, while attenuating noise, such as hum, hiss, whistles, static. It effectively removes heterodynes, ignition noise, lightening crashes, power line noise, and hum. The process is dynamic and changes with the interference and the signal, but the effect is rewarding. Mobile voice operation is fun without all that background noise. The DSP recognizes the intermittent nature of CW and allows it to pass noise free. The CLRspkr may be mounted in any convenient location. The bracket permits tilt aiming. Its audio cable plugs into the speaker output on the radio. Connect the powerpoles to any convenient 12 volt supply. The 6 foot cables may be lengthened with extensions, if needed. The CLRspkr works well in the home station too. There is a 1/8 inch phone jack on the back for connection to an external 8 or 4 ohm loudspeaker. This disconnects the internal speaker. |

I haven't used one, but I sure would like to. I hear and I have read that it's a great speaker. If you do get one, please do a small review for the forum. I for one would love to hear, no pun intended, what you think of it. Mike Moderator120 CEF#0120/HAM #222 KB1NYD CVC#0041

I picked a new one up at a local Hamfest about a month ago; so far I love it! Thinking about a second one currently. I use it in a base setup (2995DX) and it made that radio a whole lot easier to listen to; especially when skip is rolling (pretty much daily for the past few months) I found the first setting is about all I need. I would guess it should work just as well in a mobile environment... definitely worth the money to these old ears. I debated the purchase for quite awhile trying to find reviews on one (eham net) It's amazing the transformation one can make... Joe K |

Jjk9 - if you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for yours? I have been looking for a good speaker for the base setup. I am running a 2950 and a Yaesu 2 meter radio at the moment. And I have been thinking about this speaker for a while. Just haven't had the funds up till now. Mike Moderator120 CEF#0120/HAM #222 KB1NYD CVC#0041

No problem Mike; Vendor at the fest I'm not sure of their name, I was looking for a 40amp switching supply also; found both and haggled a bit; speaker was 190.00 The best I could find on line was 209+ shipping. I ended up with a Diamond 40amp Switching supply (nice unit) and the clear speaker for 330.00... Good Luck, joe |

Not to bad. I couldn't find it cheaper then the $209.00 either, so I would say you did good. If I could swing it, I would own for sure! Mike Moderator120 CEF#0120/HAM #222 KB1NYD CVC#0041

Just got to try a CLR Speaker in my mobile application, speaker does help reduce hearing electrical interference from the vehicle and definitely helps clear up hearing incoming signals (depending on level set on), makes listing much more pleasurable. Will be ordering one soon. Found them for around $184.00 plus about $13.00 shipping to my area. Have a great day!!!
